Facebook, on of famous social networking sites now turning parts of its application platform open source. You can download facebook here for free it’s about 40MB. It’s good good news for anybody who want starting create their own social networking sites.
This is like a Facebook spokesperson says before that Facebook will announce an open-source initiative around its Facebook Platform sometime today or tomorrow.
Facebook Open Platform Licensed
Facebook Open Platform (except for the FBML parser) is licensed under a Common Public Attribution License (CPAL), which follows the Mozilla Public License (MPL) with two additions:
- That you include attribution to Facebook on any modifications.
- That network deployment, or making modifications available over the network, counts as distribution, which makes the license appropriate for Web services.
