The Sun Smells Too Loud is not only brilliantly titled, it’s also totally free to download from the website of the band’s American record label, Matador. Brilliant.
The Sun Smells Too Loud is a more uptempo affair than they’re known for, built on the foundation of an electro beat and layered with the more familiar sound of shimmering and distorted guitars. It’s about as poppy and accessible as Mogwai get, which is no bad thing, but expect the rest of the record to take you down a darker path when it hits the shops and download stores in September. Oh and also some even better song titles. How does I Love You, I’m Going to Blow Up Your School grab ya?
